LIVE LIFE WITH PURPOSE!

Residents of the John Bertram House enjoy a vibrant activities program.  Often resident or family suggested, the events center around continued learning and wellness as well as engaging with friends, peers, staff, and volunteers. In addition to Exercise & Walking Groups, Crafts & Games, Service Projects, Continuing Education & Discussions, and Intergenerational Programs the activites program includes:

Scheduled Transportation On selected days residents can receive transportation to and from doctors appointments within the Salem area. Private transportation can be arranged by the staff with community transportation services as well.

Entertainment John Bertram House is a wonderful venue for area performers. Many of our entertainers are volunteers, but others are hired for their talents. Entertainment has included singers, piano, guitar and harp players, poets, lectures, slide presentations, and even swing dancers!

Outings An activity that is based entirely on the residents interests, outings are always a popular event. Trips have included: scenic drives, the movies, luncheons, the music theater, the library, bowling, and adventures in the greater Boston area!

Shopping Residents enjoy weekly visits to the local shopping plaza for small items such as toiletries, snacks, and stationary. Shopping trips for larger items, such as clothes or holiday gifts are arranged as needed.

Religious Activities Visiting clergy host several church services throughout the month at the John Bertram House and transportation to area churches is provided on Sunday. John Bertram House was the recipient of the MassALFA Program Innovation Award for the non-denominational group "Gifts for the Soul". Many residents participate in this program each week.

Social Hour Social Hour is held in the afternoon and is a wonderful time for residents to casually gather to converse and spend some time together. Refreshments and a light snack or cocktail and hors d'oeuvres, are served.
